A North Somerset healthcare charity has been praised for its research into young people’s mental health care.

Healthwatch North Somerset, an independent consumer champion for health and social care, received the commendations at the Healthwatch annual conference earlier this month.

The organisation was praised for its reports into teenage mental health care in North Somerset by Children’s Commissioner Anne Longfield.

Healthwatch’s chief officer, Eileen Jacques, said: “We were delighted that the Children’s Commissioner singled out the work of Healthwatch North Somerset. It is reassuring to know that our work for local people has reached a national level and has influenced this national review.

“The Children’s Commissioner has stated she would like Healthwatch to collaborate on vital work being done by the Children’s Commissioner’s office and of course we welcome the opportunity to represent the local voice.”
