AN ENVIRONMENTAL artist from Portishead has received a personal letter from Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore, praising her for her "wonderful, inspiring and thought provoking work."Mum-of-two Carolyn Stubbs received the letter from Mr Gore in which he says how "pleased that others are taking time to better inform themselves about the environmental challenges we are facing". The former US vice president is back in the political limelight following controversy over his Oscar winning film on climate change 'An Inconvenient Truth'. Mrs Stubbs is conducting her own arts campaign on the same issues and earlier this year used thousands of pieces of recycled paper to create three large collages entitled 'Yesterday, today, the future...' to help raise awareness of climate change environmental hazards. The work was chosen by Sir David Bellamy and the Conservation Foundation to receive the prestigious Wessex Watermark National Award. Her latest work has been documenting the mud of the Severn Estuary, already a hot topic in regards to the possibility of the Severn Barrage.
