Burnham-on-Sea's bi-annual food festival is set to make a big return on May 27 as it makes its way to the town for the 10th time.

The festival showcases Somerset produce and has been one of the highlights of the town calendar over the past five years.

More than 130 traders will be in the town centre from 9am-4pm and there will be cookery demonstrations and competitions throughout the day, including the Great Burnham Bake Off.

Organisers Beverley and Sarah Milner Simonds have hosted a number of festivals, including one in Weston in April.

The two are hoping for a big turnout and more entries into the baking competition.

Beverley said: “We don’t want new bakers to feel intimated and we have a special class for first-time bakers.

“If you have never entered the competition before – now is your chance. The task is to make us a 10th birthday cake and bring it along on the day.”
