A Cheddar animal charity has received a donation worth more than £100 from a Weston-super-Mare business.

Brinsea Products Ltd presented a cheque for £135 to Prickles Hedgehog Rescue, in Wessex Business Centre, Cheddar, who save and care for hedgehogs found across Somerset.

The Weston business, based on Weston’s Industrial Estate, raised money for the charity through a hedgehog-themed coffee morning and a tombola.

Prickles currently has four tiny hoglets in incubators, produced by Brinsea, and are expecting more babies to be brought in over the next few weeks.

The managing director of the company, Ian Pearce, gave the cheque to Prickles volunteer Annette Lennard last week.

The charity founder Jules Bishop said she was ‘thankful’ for the donation.

She added: “Should members of the public come across a nest of mum and hoglets or hoglets on their own, please call us for advice on 07806744772.”
