PRIMARY schools in North Somerset have been finding out how they fair in the latest league tables released today (Thurs).

The tables show how pupils achieved in Key Stage 2 tests in English, maths and science and how they compare with other schools in the local authority area and in England.

The tables also list the contextual value added score which measures the progress made by pupils from the end of Key Stage 1 to the end of Key Stage 2 using their test and exam results. It takes into account the varying starting points of each pupil's Key Stage 1 test results, and adjusts for factors which are outside a school's control that have been observed to impact on pupil results, such as gender, mobility and levels of deprivation

Schools highlights in North Somerset:

* Blagdon and Wraxall Primary came top with maximum scores of 300

* Bournville Junior came top for value added with 102.3

* Walliscote Primary had the highest absence ratings and all Saints East Clevedon the lowest.
