WESTON will welcome a Royal visitor this afternoon - and she will be formally greeted by the 10-year-old winner of a Mercury competition.

HRH Princess Anne will be in Waterloo Street from around 1pm to open the new offices of Nightingale Property Sales and Lettings.

The Princess Royal has been a regular and popular to Weston in recent years, notably visiting Weston College and opening a previous Nightingale development.

Company’s boss, Richard Nightingale, says he wanted to make the occasion extra special for one lucky Weston youngster, by offering them the chance to come face-to-face with the royal visitor and give the Princess a welcome bouquet.

The Mercury invited primary schoolchildren around the town to enter an art competition to draw their own fairytale princess – and Katie Price, aged 10, of Lancaster House School, was picked as our winner.

Richard now says he hopes Katie enjoys being centre stage for the royal occasion, which he believes will be a boost for Weston.

He said: “I am absolutely honoured that Princess Anne could give her time to visit us, and visit Weston.

“I think it will be a wonderful occasion, a very, very special event.”
