A ‘magnificent’ teacher from Worle has been presented with an illustrious award.

Gail Webb, of The Priory Learning Trust, has been helping Worle Community School over the past 15 months as it continued its journey towards an outstanding Ofsted rating.

Gail has been rewarded for more than 40 years in education with the presentation of an MBE.

She has had a distinguished career in education, working locally, regionally and nationally, including as a director learning and teaching for the National Strategies.

She is now helping at King Alfred School in Highbridge to achieve the same rating on behalf of the trust.

The trust’s executive principal, Neville Coles, told the Mercury: “Gail is a magnificent person to have in education and this is a thoroughly-deserved honour.

“She inspires others to go further and to provide excellent learning environments.”
