WORK is expected to start soon on building a nature reserve on parish land in Hutton.
Village leaders are confident a planning application for a picnic area, orchard and pond off Moor Lane will be approved by January.
The parish council also hopes to get £9,900 from the Community Wildlife Grant, part of the Big Lottery Fund, for the project next month.
Since purchasing the field last year, hedgerows and trees have been planted on the two-and-a-half acre site.
The council bought the land for £40,000 in a bid to save it from housing.
