ANGRY Cheddar residents have been protesting over county council plans to close the village library.
They met outside the Union Street facility on Saturday to campaign against proposals to withdraw the funding from 20 libraries as Somerset County Council attempts to slash 25 per cent off its library service budget.
Villagers have formed a new group to save the service, called Friends of Cheddar Library, which held a committee meeting on Monday.
Cheddar Parish Council was due to hold a special meeting last night (Wednesday) to discuss the plans.
