Protesters gather to save the Trop

PROTESTERS with placards begging to save Weston's Tropicana were out in force at the weekend.
The group gathered outside the former pool on Saturday to voice their anger at the decision to demolish the seafront landmark.
The hordes of people campaigning to reverse the decision were of all ages, each united against North Somerset Council’s bid to pull down the site by Secretary of State, Eric Pickles.
Despite repeated attempts to save the crumbling building, including a bid from campaign group Trop (WSM) Ltd, Mr Pickles said he believed there is ‘no alternative but to demolish the site’.
Organisers Rita Granner and Sam Leadbeater led the protest, encouraging more people to join along the way, and were also supported by a cheerleader display.
