PROTESTORS grabbed their swimming gear and rubber rings for a rally at Bristol International Airport.The Stop Bristol Airport Expansion group (SBAE) held the event with a theme of 'More flights - more floods', to highlight how the expansion could increase the risk of flooding in low lying Somerset villages.The SBAE group also stepped up its profile this week with the launch of a mobile billboard campaign.The billboards, on each side of a van, will travel around North Somerset throughout June displaying messages about the effects of rising carbon dioxide emissions.The van, powered on environmentally cleaner biodiesel fuel, will carry the equivalent of a 48-sheet billboard on each side reading: 'Terminal? By 2015, Bristol Airport will emit 6 times more CO2 emissions than all the cars in Bristol' and 'The Chew Valley. Rolling Hills, bubbling streams and an airport the size of Luton's - Say NO to Bristol Airport expansion'. Jeremy Birch of Stop Bristol Airport Expansion said: "With the threat of climate change growing greater daily, it has never been more urgent to make sure the public are informed of the consequences of airport expansion. "Our children have a potentially scary future ahead of them - but we can do something about it if we do it now.
