PUBLIC conveniences have had to close due to the extreme weather conditions.

PUBLIC conveniences have had to close due to the extreme weather conditions.

Sedgemoor District Council has not been able to open some of its toilets where the roads have not been cleared of snow and ice.

There have also been a number of burst pipes and conditions at the entrances of the toilets are very slippy, despite gritting.

The forecast for the next few days remains below freezing and the decision to close the rural toilets means that staff will not have to travel along those roads that have not been gritted by Somerset County Council.

A review of the closures will be taken early next week.
