PUPILS in Worle have brought their school bang up-to-date by making it one of the first in North Somerset to develop podcasts.Priory Community School students 15-year-old Joe Spear and Tim Haines developed the first podcast as part of a project that won a prize at the British Association Crest Awards.Podcasts are sounds or video files that can be downloaded from websites onto an MP3 player or iPod and watched or listened to.A group of year 11 students are now developing a variety of different types of podcasts to be placed on the school's website.They include study tips for students about to embark on exams, information on school events, news and music.Headteacher Ron Richards said: "Priory is one of the few schools involved in the use of this new technology. It has powerful potential and could be possible to video lessons for students to download."It could be used for homework tasks or to keep students up-to-date if they missed school due to illness."In particular, it is likely to be successful because it uses the technology that young people themselves have become familiar with.
