NATIONAL Cancer Awareness Week was marked at a village primary school this week.

Pupils at Sandford Primary School worked alongside teachers and representatives from Macmillan Cancer Support to raise money for the charity.

Pupils came in mufti or fancy dress, drew pictures for cancer sufferers and were due to release balloons, but the launch had to be cancelled due to the bad weather.

In total the school raised £200 for Macmillan and learning mentor Peter Kennell thanked Clinton Cards in Weston and parents for helping make the balloons.
