The Lighthouse

YOUNG entrepreneurs from Weston have celebrated raising more than £2,000 for charity with a presentation evening.

Teams of students from St Georges Primary School, Hans Price Academy and Ashcombe Primary School were given a £20 loan earlier this year and asked to multiply the amount for The Lighthouse charity in Weston over a 10 week period.

Lighthouse works to bring hope to people in need in the town through 10 different projects including the Foodbank, and parenting courses.

To reach the grand total pupils organised a cake sale, washed teachers’ cars, created a winter festival, a no school uniform day and even a CD of Christmas carols.

Mentors from Lloyds TSB guided the students through the tasks by giving lessons in team working, finance, resilience and creative thinking.
