A tourist attraction hosted a packed weekend of events to celebrate dairy farming.

Puxton Park hosted The Derek Mead Dairy Weekend from September 1-2.

Teams competed for the Derek Mead Cup in a dairy show, which was won by Jessica Ravenhill White, Jess Tapp, Emily Davis and Lauren Parkhouse – winning an all-expenses-paid trip to Belgium for the European championships in 2019.

A barn in the memory of Mr Mead was unveiled at the event, which raised more than £500 for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity and the Derek Mead Health Room at Junction 24.

Alistair Mead, managing director, said: “Dad’s dream was to open a place where children and their families could learn about farming and the importance of British agriculture. As his legacy lives on around us, we hope that all of our visitors can experience the joy these new lives bring to the farm.”
