HUNDREDS of sporting youngsters donned their running shoes and red clothes to raise cash for Sport Relief.

HUNDREDS of sporting youngsters donned their running shoes and red clothes to raise cash for Sport Relief.

Children and teachers at Flax Bourton Primary School (pictured top), ran 550 laps of the playing field - totalling 32 miles.

More than 100 pupils from Portishead Primary School, in Station Road, also ran a mile around their school field to raise money for the charity.

Family and friend cheered the runners on as they sweated it out for the good cause.

Portishead Running Club joined in with the festivities raising £230 for the appeal.

More than 70 adults and children, aged seven-70, took part in the Sport Relief mile, organised by the club at Gordano School.

To up the pace of the race, competitors dribbled footballs, wore weighted jackets and skipped along the course.

All the money raised from the event will be spent by Comic Relief to help some of the world's most poor and vulnerable people.
