A COUNCILLOR is appealing for the return of the RAF ensign that was flying from Sedgemoor District Council's flag pole.

The ensign was hacked down from the pole and has been reported to the Police as stolen. It is valued at about £400.

Cllr Gill Slocombe said: “I am so disappointed with this sort of mindless behaviour. Our appeal is not about the monetary worth of the ensign, but what it represents.”

The ensign was being flow in support of wings week and the Royal Air Force Association battle of Britain annual commemoration service.

Anyone with any information about the ensign is asked to contact either the Police or Sedgemoor District Council.
