A CELEBRATION of 'real women' is taking place on the Pier next week as part of a ladies evening.
Laura Stuart, from West Wick, is trying to raise the profile of models size 12 and over and has got a group of Weston women together to put on a catwalk show at the pier.
Stalls selling everything from chocolate and cupcakes to jewellery and mobile tanning will be at the event, which is being run in partnership with Ann Summers.
Ms Stuart, who works for the adult store, said: “There is so much focus on size zero models in advertising and on television these days.
“There is a lot of negative imagery about how women should supposedly look.
“That’s why we’re using real ladies, not professional models.”
She said that all the women taking part in the show started off as models for the store.
She said: “One woman was so stunned when she saw her photographs and how good she looked that she burst into tears.”
The ladies evening starts at 7pm on October 28 at Weston’s Grand Pier in Marine Parade.
