NORTH Somerset Council is carrying out a 'thorough review' of its waste collections following allegations that residents' recycling is being dumped in with the rest of their rubbish.Last week the Weston & Somerset Mercury revealed the shocking claims by an employee of one of the firms North Somerset Council uses to pick up waste. The man, who works for Veolia, said because the company is short-staffed it sends out one van from the civic amenity site in Weston to pick up both black bag rubbish and materials carefully separated into green bags for composting, mixing it together.North Somerset Council's executive member for environment, Councillor Carl Francis-Pester, said: "With the close co-operation of our contractors we are carrying out a thorough review of the waste collection service over a six-week period. "This review is continuing but, to date, we have found no evidence to support the allegations that have been made.
