A PENSIONER is calling on council dustbin men to clean up their act and collect his rubbish on time.Derek Stanley, of Castle Hill, Banwell, says North Somerset Council's contracted refuse collectors keep forgetting to take his rubbish. The 66-year-old has written to the council threatening to dump his household waste on the steps of the Town Hall in Weston if they forget to collect it again.Refuse collectors forgot to empty his bin on April 25 and then took four days to remove the rubbish which had been left behind. His refuse was also forgotten in February and he had to write to the council about the problem.Mr Stanley said: "I watched the binmen come down the road and they picked up everyone's rubbish but mine. I put my refuse in a metal bin rather than just bags because animals can rip them up, which creates a huge mess."We pay a lot of council tax and deserve a first-class service, not something that is merely satisfactory."Deborah Yamanaka, North Somerset Council's executive member for environment and community, admitted there had been some problems with refuse collection. She said: "Due to the Banwell diversion it was not possible to get to Mr Stanley's residence for four days."There have been a number of short term problems, but hopefully these will be sorted out soon.
