UNCHARACTERISTIC weather for August brought strong winds and high waves to Weston's seafront.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for the South West, with the remains of hurricane Bertha expected to bring severe weather across the UK.

Although North Somerset was not as badly hit as some areas, Mercury readers were out in force with their cameras to take photos of the waves.

High tides meant a number of drivers parked on the beach were caught out when their cars were nearly lost to the sea.

There were also flood warnings in place for Burnham and Uphill.
