A MAN was rescued by Weston RNLI last week after he became stranded on rocks at Brean Down.
The alarm was raised by Swansea Coastguard last Wednesday at teatime after the man went for a stroll on the beach and was caught out by the tide.
RNLI crews rushed to the scene and rescued the man before he was overwhelmed by the rapidly rising water.
He was treated to prevent hypothermia but did not need any further medical attention.
RNLI Helmsman Andy Stone said: “He was not in immediate danger but the cold is an insidious thing.
“It would have made him seriously ill and even made him lose consciousness if we had not reached him.
“Anyone out walking in this area needs to understand the tides and be well dressed to prevent potential hypothermia.”
