THE knitted frog character that has been created for Marine Cove, in Burnham has now been given a name.

At the official opening of Marine Cove there was the opportunity to pick a name for the frog, designed by Sam Morris, and then Friends of Marine Cove choose the preferred option.

The names suggested ranged from Fredd the Frog, Ribbity, Sid and Jumpy, but the final name to be chosen was Lily. After months of being known as The Marine Cove Frog, residents can now refer to the character as Lily the Frog. The name was suggested by local resident Helen Barsby, who will receive her very own knitted frog.

There has also been many people volunteering their time to knit the frogs that will be sold at future events. And one way of supporting the future projects at Marine Cove would be to buy a frog from one of these events or through the Information Centre on the Esplanade, where they will be available to buy along with the popular Frog-in-a-Bag, which enables you to knit your own.
