OBESE and overweight residents wanting to get fit and active can now do activities in Sedgemoor.
The district council has set up Active Somerset so residents can burn calories while taking part in fun sports ranging from aerobics to badminton.
The five district councils, Somerset County Council, Somerset Primary Care Trust, Age Concern Somerset and Sport England have all teamed up to provide activities in the area.
A cardiac rehab session has been organised at Highbridge Community Centre every Wednesday from 2.15pm and Movement to Music for the over 60s will be held in East Huntspill Village Hall every Thursday from 11am.
The district council is also looking for qualified exercise and walk leaders, sports coaches and clubs who would like to start a new activity. The authority can provide funding and support for 12 weeks while the new sport is set up.
