RESIDENTS of Highbridge have welcomed the news that a pedestrian crossing will be put outside the town’s medical centre.

The safety issue has long been the focus of many councillors’ and residents’ attention and Somerset County Council has now commissioned the zebra crossing outside the Highbridge Medical Centre in Pepperall Road.

This has followed concerns about the traffic volume and speed of vehicles going from Burnham Road to Frank Foley Road.

County councillor John Woodman said: “I am delighted this road safety initiative is going ahead and I would like to thank Councillors Chris Williams and Pat Burge for the support they have given to me in this application.”
