A YACHT club is offering a £1,000 reward for information after falling victim to vandalism for the second time this year. Some time between Friday night and Saturday morning (Dec 8 & 9), three windows were smashed at Bristol Corinthians Yacht Club, based at Cheddar Reservoir.Club Commodore Paul Hipwell said: "The club has been there 50 years and nothing serious has ever happened. Now we have had two serious incidents in the last few months."The windows have recently been replaced after they were vandalised in the summer. Repairs cost the club over £10,000 for the seven windows that were broken. Paul found stones near the clubhouse, which he believes were thrown by vandals deliberately. Paul said: "We have done a lot to build relationships with the local community. "It is so frustrating when this happens. The club raised over £15,000 for local charities in June with a Dragon Boat event. The building itself is also open to walkers at the reservoir to use the toilets and next to the club house there is a children's play area, which has also recently been refurbished. When the club was vandalised in the summer the members, together with Bristol Water, offered a £1,000 reward for information about the perpetrators. That reward is now being offered again.Three panes of four-foot square windows were smashed and initial estimates say the repairs will cost £740. The building dates back to 1945, which is why the estimates are so high, as older buildings are difficult to repair. Paul added: "People in the neighbourhood have been really helpful but it is still a bitter pill to swallow."Police are still investigating.
