The number of youngsters on the Child Protection Register in North Somerset increased by 23 per cent in the last financial year.More than 70 are now on the register, which is a list of children thought to be at risk of abuse.More than 95 per cent of the children are described as white British and more than half are on the register because they are thought to be at risk of neglect.Just over 10 per cent fall in the 'unborn or under the age of one' category. The figures were revealed in a report to North Somerset Council's executive committee.
