Police have closed a road in Weston-super-Mare this evening (Friday) after a man suffered ‘serious’ injuries in a car crash.

Kewstoke Road has been cordoned off at its junction with Monks Hill after a two-car collision at around 4.40pm.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary told the Mercury that a man in his 60s is in a ‘serious but stable’ condition following the crash, and is being treated by paramedics at the scene.

The spokesman added that it is unlikely that the road will reopen until 6pm at the earliest. Motorists are advanced to avoid the area in the meantime.
