CLOSING down a main road in Weston for flood prevention works has caused traffic chaos for disgruntled motorists.

Milton Road is facing weeks of disruption as the sewage pipes are replaced.

The work is scheduled to last for seven weeks as 300 metres of sewer pipe will need to be replaced to help cope with heavy rainfall.

Wessex Water hopes larger pipes will stop roads and houses around Ashcombe Gardens flooding in future.

Some readers have taken to the Mercury Facebook page to share their views about the recent changes:

Charlie Merino said: “The diversions are all mixed up. It leads straight to a dead end and not around to go back into town.

“It’s ridiculous what they have done, and pointless too.”

Chris Eden-Winn said: “They have been working on Milton Road and are two weeks behind. There doesn’t appear to be any order to where they are working next.”

Jodie Banks said: “It is a joke. The school run daily to Ashcombe School is taking twice as long and it is complete chaos through Earlham Grove.”

Kelly Reeve said: “I live on Upper Bristol Road. It has made the road a lot busier and the hills have queues half way down at busy times.

“The buses are running routes they are not used to and it shows.”
