Weston-super-Mare’s Flowerdown Bridge will close for two nights while the carriageway’s surface is repaired.

Work will start on Monday, and is expected to take two weeks in total.

The two night-time closures, between 8pm-5am, will be on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the A370 Somerset Avenue, heading towards Weston from the M5, will be closed from Airport Roundabout and Hutton Moor Roundabout.

The road will be closed in the opposite direction on Tuesday night and the early hours of Wednesday.

North Somerset Councillor Elfan Ap Rees said: “As well as repairing the road surface at Flowerdown Bridge, we’ll be using the closures to allow other works to take place.

“For example our street lighting team will also be carrying out maintenance works to the lighting columns on that stretch on road.”

He said doing the work at once makes it better value for money, and prevents the road being closed in the near future.
