MOTORISTS will soon be stopped driving down a road between Weston and Worle for good.Moor Lane in Locking Castle will be shut to all vehicles from Worle Moor Road to Vale Mill Way from April 16 to allow for drainage and highway work to be carried out. It is expected to take 11 months.Once the work is completed the road will then be open to buses, horses, cyclists and pedestrians only.A North Somerset Council spokesman said: "We're rebuilding the entire road, so a significant amount of work is going to be taking place. "Moor Lane has to be closed to allow the developer to carry out the work, starting with repairs to the road itself. Work is also being done to restore the rhynes on either side of the road. "For the duration there will be some limited pedestrian access. However, for obvious reasons, there will be periods when the whole road is closed off to them as well."Planning permission was granted back in 1999 for work to develop the area around Moor Lane and that was when closing the road to cars was first discussed. Residents living in the area have been calling for improvements to the roads for the last couple of years and earlier this year developers were given the green light to go ahead with the work.
