Roadshow weight shock

AN ALARMING 89 per cent of those tested during a recent weight loss roadshow in Weston were found to be overweight and several were severely or morbidly obese.
The All About Weight team visited town recently and said many of those who measured up to the BMI (Body Mass Index) challenge were ‘more than pleasantly plump’.
Sue Robinson, All About Weight consultant and mentor for the Weston to Bridgwater area of Somerset, said that the turn-out for free BMI checks at the roadshow in the Sovereign Shopping Centre was disappointing.
She says it was probably because it was held on a hot, sunny day when many were enjoying the sands or sheltering in the shade.
Sue added: “We still managed to measure a good sample of local residents though, and gather some donations in aid of Weston Hospicecare.
“We handed out plenty of advice about the dangers of being overweight.”
Sue, who herself has lost nearly five stone after being obese nearly all her adult life, decided to work with the All About Weight diet team to help others.
She added: “I know all about the yo-yo diet syndrome and thought I was destined to be overweight for the rest of my life.”
