A plaque for children's author Roald Dahl will be unveiled next week.

The blue plaque is the third in a series to be installed by Weston Town Council.

Mr Dahl went to St Peter’s School in Weston in 1925 after arriving on a paddle-steamer.

His book Boy tells of his school experiences in Weston, and he described St Peter’s as ‘a long three-storey stone building that looked rather like a private lunatic asylum’.

Some of his fictional characters are reminiscent of the adult figures Mr Dahl encountered in school, from the ‘giant’ headmaster to the ‘female ogre’ matron.

St Peter’s School no longer exists, but the plaque will be installed on the corner of St Peter’s Avenue and Shrubbery Drive, where it used to stand. It will be unveiled on Monday.
