The Stert Island swim, held in Burnham, saw 66 people swim across the Bristol Channel to Stert Island and back.

The competitors included 79-year-old Roger Venner, of Burnham, who completed his 10th race.

The fastest man and race winner was Marcus Williams and the quickest woman was Larissa Green.

Somerset MP Tessa Munt said: “I have complete respect for anyone who can take on this challenge.

“A few people did look understandably a little nervous at the start but it was all smiles at the finish. Marcus and Larissa clocked fantastically impressive times.”
