Work to the West Wick roundabout to improve traffic flow onto the M5 is expected to cost £183,000 more than planned.
North Somerset Council will make changes to the roundabout and Elmham Way, which feeds into it, to improve how traffic flows onto the motorway at junction 21 in Weston-super-Mare.
The work will also allow for a £10million link road to be built, which will connect West Wick and Locking Parklands to the motorway.
Contractors have been assessing the cost of roundabout improvement, and the quotes they have come £183,162 over the £1.07million budget.
Elfan Ap Rees, the council’s executive member responsible for highways, has been asked to agree to the overspend in the capital budget to pay for the work.
