John and Gina Palmer tackle the bees
Submitted
MILTON Park Primary School had a royal visitor on Friday – a queen bee and her hive.
The swarm landed on the main entrance gate of the school in Milton Park Road, leading a resident to call beekeeper John Palmer and his daughter Gina.
It took the duo more than two hours to get the bees to move, as they managed to get the queen bee – nicknamed Queen Elizabeth – into a box, before her swarm followed.
Mr Palmer said: “We knew which one was the queen. I’m sure she had a little crown on.”
