EXTRA staff have been taken on to try and clear the uncollected rubbish piling up across North Somerset.

Additional lorries are also being put on and refuse collectors are due to work on Saturday to pick up bags and boxes lining the streets.

North Somerset Council had to suspend collections during the bad weather as vehicles could not get to a lot of properties.

Residents are being advised to put their rubbish out on the usual day and it will be collected as soon as possible.
