AN ACTION-PACKED week of rugby-related fun was held in Winscombe to mark the 50th anniversary of a village club.

Winscombe Rugby Club was founded in 1962 and a series of events have been held in the village to mark its golden anniversary.

The team played a side from Clifton – the club’s first ever opponents – on September 5, before a fun day was held at its Longfield Recreation Ground home on Saturday.

A minis and juniors tournament kicked off the day at 10am, before a mass scrum was organised.

The first and second teams played league matches at 3pm before the day was rounded off by a dinner dance, music and a speech by the president of Bath Rugby Club, David Trick.
