THE sun might have only been in the sky for a couple of hours, but that did not stop passionate rugby fans descending on venues across Weston to watch England's crunch match against Scotland on Saturday.

While most people would be enjoying cups of tea and coffee at 8.30am, pints of lager and ale were the order of the day as fans watched England’s narrow win which ensured progress at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

At venues including Allstars Sports Bar in Regent Street, and Hornets Rugby Club, sports-lovers watched Chris Ashton score a late try to seal a 16-12 victory which means they will now play France, with kick-off at 8.30am this Saturday. Wales will play Ireland earlier that morning, at 5.30am.
