VOLUNTEERS have recorded nearly 500 motorists speeding through two villages in under two weeks.A Speedwatch scheme was launched up by a group in Yatton and Claverham at the start of May to try to put the brakes on irresponsible drivers.Group members use a speed gun to record the speeds and say they are astounded at how many they have caught since the project was launched.PC Andy Bibbings, who is co-ordinating the scheme, said: "The team has noticed that drivers purposefully slow down when they go past."They are a bit frustrated about this but I am trying to tell them that if they are slowing people down then that is all that matters.
