A 10-year-old boy organised a cake sale so his mum and sister could travel abroad to help dogs living on the streets.

The Sherwood-Dawson family, who live in Locking, were inspired to help the Cabo Verde equivalent of the RSPCA after they adopted their dog from the country.

Mum Carolyn and daughter Madalyn will be travelling to Africa to support the charity.

Son Sam, aged 10, wanted to help their fundraising efforts and organised a cake sale at his school, Locking Primary School.

He and his friends helped to raise £100 altogether.

The family have also raised money by holding car washes, craft sales, and car boot sales.

Carolyn and Madalyn will travel to Cabo Verde, an island off the coast of Africa, at the end of March.

They are hoping to take much-needed items with them, which can help the charity treat the sick and injured street cats and dogs.
