A charity which offers a supportive helpline to people who are considering committing suicide is looking to extend its branch in Weston-super-Mare.
The Samaritans held its annual meeting for volunteers at the Boulevard United Reformed Church, in Waterloo Street, on October 19.
Volunteers at the branch, in High Street, are currently in negotiations with the previous owners of Archie’s, a takeaway next door which recently closed down, in the hope of extending the office.
A spokesman for the Samaritans told the Mercury: “There is poor access to our office. The steep stairs make it difficult for disabled clients and samaritans to get in.”
