THE fairytales written by two famous writers have been brought to life on Weston's seafront.Eight artists from the Netherlands, Portugal, Ireland and Italy, have this week been putting the finishing touches to their sand sculptures, which are based on the stories created by the Brothers Grimm. The four sculptures have taken 10 days to complete and were expected to be unveiled this week as part of the Sand Sculpting Festival on the Beach Lawns.North Somerset Council's rangers and tourism and events teams have organised the event in association with the World Sand Sculpting Academy. It has been funded with the support of local businesses and organisations. The sculptures will now be in place until September for everyone to see. There will be a £1.50 admission charge to the event for adults. Children will be admitted free of charge if accompanied by someone over 18.North Somerset Council has confirmed the sculptures will be kept under constant security after vandals partially destroyed a giant King Kong which was created for the event last year.
