PUBLISHED: 19:00 15 July 2011

WALLACE and Gromit will be the star judges of a sandcastle building contest on Weston’s seafront on Saturday.

The competition welcomes budding young designers to compete on the sands for the event, which will last all day.

Their creations will then be judged with prizes awarded for the tallest, most technically daring and best overall sandcastle.

The event is organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and North Somerset Council.

Alongside the Aardman duo, the sand sculptures will be judged by George Ferguson, former RIBA president, Pierre Wassenaar, president of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales and North Somerset Council councillor Terry Porter.
