A Weston Hospicecare supporter says she is delighted after scooping the top prize in the charity’s lottery.
Sandra Tansley won the £2,000 super draw prize in the hospice’s weekly draw.
She was presented with her prize cheque and a luxury hamper at the hospice by the charity’s director of fundraising and communications Alison Sopp.
Mrs Tansley said: “I wanted to take part in the lottery because it supports a local charity.
“I was really shocked to learn that I’d won £2,000 in the draw, as well as the Christmas hamper – I couldn’t believe it when I got the news. It made my Christmas.”
The weekly lottery costs £1 to enter and this money helps to fund care for patients both at the hospice, in Thornbury Road in Uphill, and in their homes.
Ms Sopp told the Mercury proceeds generated from the lottery went a long way in supporting Hospicecare patients, and she urged more people to get involved.
She said: “The lottery is a great way for people to support the hospice and win at the same time.
“We welcome more people who want to sign up, support the hospice and potentially win one of our wonderful prizes.”
