AN AMERICAN tourist who was looking forward to seeing one of the Queen's residences in all its glory got more than she bargained for when her satnav directed her to The Windsor Castle pub in Weston instead.

The woman, thought to be aged in her early 30s, expected to see the iconic national landmark in Berkshire, but instead went way off-track, finishing up at the Upper Bristol Road watering hole.

Determined to carry on to her original destination she asked manager Anthony Cassidy (pictured above) for directions. Anthony, who has worked at the pub for six years, says he has never known anything quite like it.

The 24-year-old former pupil of King Alfred School in Highbridge said: “She said she had travelled from Bath.

“I’ve always wanted someone to come into the pub and say they meant to travel to Windsor Castle and now it’s happened.

“She was determined to carry on and reach her intended destination, so I directed her to McDonald’s where she could get access to the internet and directions.”
