A FUNDRAISER designed to help salvage Weston’s Birnbeck Pier was held on the seafront.
Friends Of The Old Pier Society certainly hope the look after the pennies, and the pounds will look after themselves saying rings true as it embarked on a copper mile fundraiser on April 5.
The idea behind the project is to line up 1p and 2p coins from the Grand Pier to Birnbeck Pier to raise funds for the charitable group and raise further awareness of the old pier’s plight.
About £200 was raised with coins stretching from the Grand Pier to the Winter Gardens and the plan is to continue the chain over the next few weeks and get it to reach the Pier View café.
