FED up residents are calling on councillors to stand their ground and stay no to 'infill developments' in Portishead.Ken Smith, of Down Road, told councillors at a meeting of Portishead and North Weston Town Council they should stand firm and stop developers building on any spare piece of land in the town.The call follows a number of developments where homes have been built in people's large back gardens. Older houses have been demolished to make way for new, higher density developments.Mr Smith said: "I am amazed at the number of buildings which keep popping up - it is happening all over Portishead in any piece of green space which is available. As a town council you should be saying no to these development."The people of Portishead are losing faith in what councillors are doing as the town continues to grow without any thought to the consequences."Councillors agreed they needed to be tougher with developers.Councillor Arthur Terry said the problem of infilling was a result of Government policy and meant that any reasonable size plot was fair game for development.Cllr Terry said: "It is an issue we need to take up.
