TASTY breakfast treats, games and crafts have been offered to a Worle primary school group after it won funding from Kellogg's.

Becket Primary School, in Tavistock Road, received a boost of £400 to help support the school’s breakfast club Breakfast@Becket.

It is one of 1,000 schools from across the country to receive a grant, and comes after the release of the food company’s Lost Education report.

The report revealed more than a quarter of teachers questioned saw an increase in children being sent to school with no breakfast.

Becket headteacher John Clark said: “It’s a shocking fact that children are missing out on the very foundations of their education by not being fed in the morning. That’s why breakfast clubs are a lifeline for so many children.

“This grant from Kellogg’s will really help our club and we are looking forward to spending the money on subsidising breakfast for the children who are not getting it at home as well as buying some new play equipment for the club.”
